What Is A Starter Solenoid
A Starter Solenoid Is A Combination Of Solenoid And Switches (Full Name: Starter Solenoid Switch). It Is One Of The Main Components Of The Car Starter (Motor, Starter Drive, Starter Solenoid)
The Starter Solenoid Is Above The Starter Motor. The Threaded Terminal At The Left Would Connect To The Battery Through A Heavy Cable. At The Right End Of The Solenoid Coil, A Linkage Inside The Housing Would Engage The Pinion Visible In The Housing At The Right Side Of The Motor.
The Starter Solenoid Is Sometimes Called The Starter Relay, But Many Cars Reserve That Name For A Separate Relay That Supplies Power To The Starter Solenoid. In These Cases, The Ignition Switch Energizes The Starter Relay, Which Energizes The Starter Solenoid, Which Energizes The Starter Motor.
